The current display on the second floor of the Village Inn is a “What is it?” There are about 150 household and work items from 50 years ago to 200 years ago. The items have only a number label; you must look it up in a binder nearby if you are not sure. If you have not yet seen it, it is well worth the trip. Also, there are still illustrations from the prohibition era and local liquor applications when it ended.
The Village Inn will again be part of Weekend in Old Monmouth (WOM) promoted by the Monmouth County Historical Commission. The dates for this year are Saturday May 6 from 10 till 5 and Sunday May 7 from 12 till 5. The Commission provides books of the open sites including descriptions, mapsand directions. This is a great time to plan and see historical sites of Monmouth County.
The State History Fair (2017 SPIRIT of the JERSEYS State History Fair) will again be held at Monmouth Battlefield State Park. The hours are Saturday May13, 2017 from about 10 till 4. We are planning to have a table there.
